Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Nuit Blanche Review:
Black Opium Nuit Blanche is a feminine perfume by Yves Saint Laurent, launched in 2016. Nuit Blanche first begins with a wake-up call; silky smooth rice vapor tickles the senses, offering a delicate warm sensation that is as elusive and rare as the note itself. The accord brings a contrast with its companion, the electrifying and vibrant spicy-floral character of bourbon pepper.
The stimulating heart notes of orange blossom showcase a solar glow: sharp, fresh, and luminous. Its crystal notes glorify a pure harmony together with the delicate notes of a peony accord. Eventually, the intimate signature base—the coffee accord—lends its addictive character. Ultra-absolute vanilla acts as a cushion and sandalwood essence underpins it. Last, a veil of white musk wraps it all up, like a warm and tender gift, leaving a trail of carnal desire in its wake.
Black Opium Nuit Blanche perfume scent descriptions:
Top Notes: Rice, Bourbon pepper
Heart Notes: Orange blossom, Coffee
Base notes: Vanilla, Sandalwood, White musk
My experience with this Black Opium Nuit Blanche fragrance:
I tried YSL Black Opium sometime back and quite liked it. I was kind of expecting it to be an upgrade on that. Well, frankly speaking I couldn’t find much difference between the both, just that somehow this one is a bit the sweeter side, and a bit cleaner than the Black Opium. So, its not an upgrade, but a more simpler and cleaner version of the original Black Opium.
The initial sweet peppery blast gently blends into the warm floral notes of Orange blossom and coffee. The presence of Sandalwood and white musk give a soft musky touch to the whole composition with vanilla lingering in the background. If you love gourmand fragrances then you would like it a lot. This fragrance reminds me of luxurious coffee shops and master-chef desserts!
The packaging also gets brownie points, that reminds me of glittery starry night with dreamy milky way enchanting enough to mesmerize you. I love its sparkling dark mysterious bottle. It is similar to the packaging of Black Opium, just with the difference in darkness of the bottle and the cap. Black Opium’s cap is black whereas the cap of this one’s is metallic. Also, black opium’s bottle is sparkling jet black whereas this one’s bottle is more on soft shimmery side.
Though I was expecting the fragrance to be a more on musky notes (for night wear!), I still love the sensuous, seductive, feminine and warm floral-gourmand aroma it imparts, that still makes it more of night wear perfume.
The sillage is adequate and so is the longevity. I’ve experienced its staying power of around 7 hours on my skin.
Let us have a quick look at some of the likes and dislikes I’ve felt about this fragrance:
1) Love the dark mysterious packaging.
2) The fragrance is a gorgeous blend of sweet-floral-gourmand notes with a hint of warmth from Sandalwood and White musk – Flirty, romantic, passionate, seductive, sensuous and quite addicting!
3) Awesome staying power.
4) Appropriate for night wear in summer and fall seasons.
Nothing, apart from the fact that this isn’t for people who don’t like sweet-gourmand fragrances
Overall: If you are looking for soft and silky gourmand fragrances that aren’t over the top on the nose, and are seductive, lovely and comforting to the senses, then this one is for you!
